Why do we recommend having a railing installed by a professional?
A balcony railing typically serves as fall protection and must therefore comply with strict building regulations and standards. These apply to both the dimensions of the railing and its professional installation. Ideally, a specialist company should handle the installation to ensure safety. Anyone installing the railing themselves should ensure that it is not used as fall protection – or have it subsequently inspected by an expert. Otherwise, safety and liability risks may arise.
Is there a minimum height for balcony railings?
Safety is paramount here. Therefore, nationwide regulations stipulate a minimum railing height of 90 cm for balconies or terraces up to 12 m from the ground. If your balcony is higher, the railing must be at least 110 cm high (except in Baden-Württemberg).
Can the railings be individually tailored to one's own needs?
Our standard railing dimensions are 180 cm x 90 cm (width x height) or 90 cm x 90 cm (width x height). If required, the railing can be shortened to your individual dimensions.
Which countries is the balcony railing range designed for?
Our balcony railing range is primarily aimed at customers in Germany, Austria, and other EU countries where consistent standards apply – including a railing height of 90 cm. In countries with differing building regulations, such as Switzerland or the United Kingdom, our stock railings are not available as an off-the-shelf solution. For these regions, ELEO Fence serves as a specialist partner in bespoke manufacturing, incorporating country-specific requirements directly into the planning process.
