Why powder coating using the duplex process is the more sustainable choice
At a Glance
- Powder coating using the Duplex process effectively protects fences, railings, and other metal products from corrosion, enabling sustainable and long-lasting outdoor use.
- ELEO relies on this innovative and eco-friendly technique, for example with the Lucca fence, to offer a wide range of colours and permanent protection without the use of solvents.
- Thanks to the resilient coating, the metal remains preserved for decades, even in demanding weather conditions, with minimal maintenance.
More and more people are becoming aware of the importance of sustainability and environmentally friendly products. These factors also play an increasingly significant role in the design of one's own home. Fences, gates, and railings are not only functional but also an important design element that, ideally, should bring joy for a lifetime. But when it comes to choosing a suitable finish for your fencing system – which coating is the most environmentally friendly? In this guide, we show you why powder coating using the Duplex process is the more sustainable choice.
Why is sustainability important for fences?
Metal fence elements are long-lasting products that stand outdoors for decades, relentlessly exposed to the elements. Therefore, it is all the more important to ensure eco-friendly manufacturing and coating. A sustainable finish not only protects the environment but also ensures a longer lifespan for the fence and reliably shields it from corrosion.
What is powder coating in the Duplex process?
At ELEO, we have always relied on powder coating using the Duplex process to refine our fences and railings and significantly increase their lifespan. Broadly speaking, powder coating – which is preceded by cathodic dip coating – involves electrostatically applying a dry colour powder to the metal, which is then baked on at a high temperature. The Duplex process is characterised by a particularly high layer thickness and excellent adhesion. This leads to an outstanding anti-corrosive effect and a long service life for the coating.
The advantages of powder coating in the Duplex process
- Environmentally friendly: Compared to liquid coatings, powder coating does not involve solvents. This means the air is not polluted, and fewer waste materials are produced.
- Durable: The thick and even layer offers excellent protection against corrosion, UV radiation, and scratches.
- Versatile design options: We offer powder coating in various colours from the RAL palette – such as anthracite, black, or moss green.
- Cost-efficient: Due to the long lifespan and low maintenance requirements, powder-coated fences are more cost-effective in the long run.
What makes the Duplex process so special?
Through the double coating in the Duplex process, the corrosion protection is significantly increased. The first layer serves as a primer and ensures optimal adhesion of the second layer. The second layer, in turn, provides the actual corrosion protection.

How long does a powder coating last?
It is not possible to give a universal answer regarding the lifespan of a powder coating. In moderate climates, the lifespan can easily be 30 years or more. In more aggressive environments, such as near the coast or in industrial areas, the lifespan is shorter; however, even here, a well-applied powder coating in a Duplex system offers at least 20 years of protection.
Powder coating: always a good choice for the environment and your home
Powder coating in the Duplex process is an eco-friendly and durable finish for fences, gates, and railings. Due to the high layer thickness and excellent adhesion, it offers optimal protection against corrosion and weather influences. Choose a sustainable solution and opt for powder-coated products!
